Ostrog Monastery is a stunning religious site built into the mountainside, situated high up near the mountain’s summit. Its architectural design is reminiscent of Bhutan’s Tiger’s Nest Monastery, although on a smaller scale and without the challenging four-hour hike to reach it. The monastery’s construction in the 17th century is an impressive engineering achievement.The monastery is affiliated with the Serbian Orthodox Church and continues to serve as an active place of worship and pilgrimage today. It attracts between 100,000 and 1 million pilgrims and visitors annually. Although the exact number is uncertain, it seems more plausible that the lower end of this range is more accurate, given the challenging drive along the winding road leading to the monastery.
