DESCRIPTION
Dubrovnik is a port city located in southeastern Croatia, along the southern Adriatic Sea coast. It is often considered the most stunning city on the Dalmatian coast and is famously known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic.”The name “Dubrovnik” is derived from the Croatian term “dubrava,” which means “grove.” The city is situated on a promontory that extends into the sea and lies beneath the rugged limestone slopes of Mount Srdj. The port’s sea defenses rise directly from the shoreline, while the imposing circular tower of the Minceta Fortress, completed in 1464, stands as a dominant feature of the city on the landward side. In 1979, Dubrovnik’s historic center was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site
